At the recent CCAP Conference in Boracay last June 18 – 20, SasonbiSolar Chairman & CEO Dante M. Briones presented a breakthrough solution designed to power the cold chain sustainably—especially at the first and last mile.

The solution: a fully off-grid, containerized cold storage unit that runs on 100% renewable energy.

It can:

  • Freeze down to –18°C
  • Refrigerate between 0–5°C
  • Produce ice
  • Be deployed in remote areas without access to utility power
  • Be disassembled, transported, and reassembled with ease

Release 1.0 includes:

  • Helix-type wind turbine for continuous charging
  • BIPV ZAM roof-mounted solar array with integrated rainwater
  • harvesting
  • Dual compartments for frozen and chilled goods
  • Built-in ice-making
  • Option for backup generator
  • Uses commercially available technology—making it maintainable and cost-effective

This project has been in development since October 2024, when SasonbiSolar signed a contract with Ideamorphosis Inc., a supply chain solutions provider led by Anthony S. Dizon, its President and CEO. Dizon also serves as President of the Cold Chain Association of the Philippines, Inc. (CCAP)—a key driver in bringing this innovative solution to life.

From concept to deployment, the Cold Box Project is built for impact: helping agriculture, fisheries, and rural enterprises maintain cold chain integrity while cutting emissions and operating independently of the grid.
