In January 2024, Chevron Philippines Inc. (CPI) signed a contract with Tahanang Walang Hagdanan Inc. (TWHI) and SasonbiSolar to donate P1.2 million for a solar power system at TWHI. This project will help TWHI use cleaner energy from the sun. SasonbiSolar, experts in solar energy in the Philippines, will provide and install the solar panels. The solar panels aim to reduce TWHI’s electricity bill, which is a big part of their expenses.

It’s Chevron’s first time partnering with TWHI, a non-governmental organization supporting people with disabilities (PWDs) since 1973. TWHI offers training and programs like making bags and wheelchairs, and they also do services like packaging and crafting, all done by PWDs. Chevron hopes this collaboration will help TWHI use less carbon-based energy and save money for their projects. TWHI’s President, Mr. Felix Gonzalez Jr., is grateful for Chevron’s support, saying it will help them overcome financial challenges and focus more on their programs.

SasonbiSolar, the project provider, has experience in similar projects, ensuring the success of this energy-saving system. Chevron and SasonbiSolar have previously worked together on a similar project for San Pablo Apostol Parish in Tondo, Manila, helping them save money on electricity and support their community better.
